September

09.02.13  We spent our Labor Day on the trails at White Pines State Park.  It is a beautiful area about 2 hours west of where we live.  It had easy and hard walking trails.  The kids especially loved climbing up the mountain and splashing in the water.  Some of the areas we could throw rocks in the the water.  There was one area where they had built a beautiful walking path built down the rock face.  The kids acted like monkeys and hung from the trees.  It was such a beautiful place that we will need to go exploring again.  We had a picnic and enjoyed some fun family time.

09.06.13 And FINALLY the construction begins.  The pulled out the concrete around the drains in front of our house in May, and now finally they have begun taking out the concrete sidewalks that are damaged.  I wonder how long we will have to have the holes in our sidewalks.  Maybe next Spring???

The city has been promising us that they will be tearing up our street since last May and today they began taking the layer of the street off.  It was like Christmas for the kids. They rode up and down the street watching the trucks working.  I could barely get the kids to come inside.  Hopefully it won't take as long to get this done as it did to get it started.  They had pulled out the grates in front of our house last May and I was glad to finally see some progress.  They had left holes in the road right in front of our house.

09.07.13  Fall soccer picture day.  Both kids look great and are smiling nice.  Their teams are working hard this season.  Hopefully we will get some wins.

Today was also the Primary Temple trip.  After a nice talk from one of the temple presidency's wives we went on a tour of the temple.  The day was nice but as we walked around the temple the rain began to start and then pour.  Lucky for us we were able to get a couple pictures of us in front of the temple before it rained.

09.17.13  This week they have finished the road.  I was working on something in the house when they started and the machines outside were shaking the whole house.  I could barely think straight as the ground moved and the thundering machines outside went back and forth up and down our street.  The kids got home in perfect time to watch the final sections completed.

09.18.13  We celebrated my birthday at Maggiano's and Dave brought home Portillo's cake.  Both were super yummy and the Maggiano's had a complete dinner that we brought home.  It was enough to feed our family for dinner the next day.  YUMMY!

09.20.13  The kids had the day off from school and we decided to go to the zoo.  We had a free pass for 2 to go and so I checked with the Library and they had a free pass for 2 more to go and so we went as a family.  We had a good time.  The kids had earned some money and so they were able to go on the carousel ride.  I usually don't want to pay the extra but I thought if they worked really hard at cleaning then I would give them $5 to use at the zoo.  We saw something we have never seen at the zoo.  It was called a frilled upside down jellyfish.  We thought it was pretty cool.  The day was nice and we had a great time at the zoo.

The girls and dad went on a daddy-daughter date tonight to the All Aboard Diner while Peter and I went on a hayride.  They had a fun time and especially enjoyed the train bringing them dinner.

Peter and mom got to go on the Mother Son Hayride.  We had hot dogs and chips at the park.  We got to ride around Woodridge on the wagon being pulled by the tractor.  Peter enjoyed the whole thing and he had the biggest smile the entire time.  He especially enjoyed when we chased the geese around with the tractor.   Once we got back we roasted marshmallows and made smores.  Then we made a nice frame with the craft supplies at the park.

09.22.13  Peter was star of the week starting this week.  He put this poster together, I let him draw on it and put pictures and stickers on it.  He took his stuffed animal dog Cuddley.  He was pretty cute as he worked on this project.

09.27.13  Peter had a project at school that he had to go around and take pictures of 10 things that had 10 in them.  So he went around one day after school and took pictures of things that were grouped in 10 or had the number 10 in it.  He really didn't want to do it, but once he got started it was fun.
