The wonders of technology. Dave has been out of town for business and we can "see" each other at the computer. The kids love it and play "games" with their dad. I think they like that better then talking to him. Although Peter does like seeing himself on the computer. "There's Peter" he will say.

Kirsten is STAR OF THE WEEK at her preschool. She has been the center of attention all week long. This is a page we sent back to school with her.
It says:
I like to craft with paper, stickers and glue.
My favorite food is Waffles.
When I grow up I want to be a mailman.

"You say HELLO! I say GOOD-BYE."

We had the whirlwind house guests this weekend. They came to our house at almost midnight last night and left before lunch. Dave's brother and sister stopped by on Paula's return trip to Utah {things didn't work out in D.C. with her job, bummer.} And Dave left around the same time for his work trip to Ohio. I wish they could have staid longer but I understand the time constraint, at least they got to see Dave before he left.

HAPPY FALL!! I finally got my pumpkins made the other day and so I thought I would post them. They turned out way cuter then I thought. I found the idea here and here. Of course they are way cuter in person.
The weather is set to change. Maybe fall is really here. We have had almost a month of near 80 degree days that I am suprised at {since summer hardly ever got above 70}. But the nights have been realitively cool and the leaves are trying to change. I love the weather of fall but hate the fact that it means that winter is coming.

09.26.09

We didn't make it to 2009 quilts for our Stake Relief Society Service Project. We actually made 3009 quilts and blankets. We were serving the local chapters of project Linus, Newborns in Need and also the Church humanitarian organization. I have to admit I thought it pretty silly to put out ALL those quilts, but I am glad they did because how would you choose which ones to display? It was fun to find my quilts mixed in with all the others. It truly showed us the magnitude of what we really did. AMAZING is all I can say!! Way to go Sisters!! { I heard that our ward did almost 400 - far exceeding what I figured we needed to do. }

It was also fun to hear the General Relief Society Presidency and President Eyring speak. I was a bit floored as they "eliminated" my job. Hee!Hee! {Not really, just my job title as Enrichment leader - now I'm a coordinator or helper or whatever they want to call me.}

09.25.09

Our Ward was in charge of lunch for the missionary zone conference this year. I helped serve along side some of my good friends in the ward. I was able to trade with a sister in the ward to watch my kids so I could go. It was so fun to hear the missionaries sing Called to Serve. It still gives me chills when I hear it sung by missionaries.
A fun thing that happened when we brought out dessert. Most the tables received a small bowl of ice cream and they were eating it, but when I brought over the huge plate of cookies it didn't take much to "clear" the table for me to set it down. And just like piranhas, you better move your hand or it might get eaten. :)

09.24.09

I helped the sister in our ward that was storing all the quilts for our Stake RS Service Project take them to the Stake Center. This was only the ones in boxes/totes. We had over 350 quilts turned in from just our ward. I know we will fulfill our goal of 2009. I can't wait to see them on Saturday night at our meeting.

I love what my friend Liberty calls "Happy Mail". It's when you get a package in the mail and it has fun stuff in it. I also believe in celebrating your birthday for a whole week and so I got to have both when my mom's present came in the mail today. Happy Day! Happy Day!! If you can't see if very well it is a beautiful ring and also a necklace with an A on it. The book is one I have wanted to read. Now I have my own copy!! Thanks mom!!

09.22.09

Around 11 am Peter started being really whiny and wanted to be held. I just figured it was because I was ignoring him {while I was on the phone.} But it continued after I took a shower and he actually fell asleep in my arms. He felt a little warm - about 99.1 degrees on the thermometer. He woke up from his nap much the same. I'm not sure what is wrong with him, he doesn't seem to be pulling on his ears or holding his stomach or anything like that. He just is really whiny and wants to be held. I hope he is better tomorrow.

UGH!! I just replaced this cartridge. . . I'm starting to think my printer has printed it's last pages. I Hate it when this happens. I REALLY HATE IT when this happens. We have had it for a long time and I guess it has printed quite a bit for us. . . I just don't want to deal with this now. {Especially since I just balanced the checkbook and reviewed the budget :( }
UGH! DOUBLE UGH!!!

09.20.09

Do you like my new watch? I got it for my birthday but I didn't get it until today. I LOVE IT!!! It is soooo cute. My friend Liberty makes them and I have wanted one for a long time and so I told Dave that I was going to order me one. And I got it today. If you want to see more click here

09.19.09

For a day that didn't start off so great {mom in a bad mood} It sure ended nice. When Dave got home from his meetings in the morning he asked us if we wanted to go to the temple and then to the beach. We were excited to go and have some fun. So after lunch we packed into the truck and away we went. We walked around the temple grounds and touched the temple. Then we took some pictures and looked at the cool fountains. Then we drove a little ways down Lake Ave and ended up at a beach in Wilmette. It was a beautiful day and you saw either people in bikini's or people in jackets. It was a bit breezy at the beach but that didn't stop Kirsten from getting sopping wet. Peter even let Daddy get his toes wet and after that he wanted to be in the water - with dad of course. Peter loved to play in the sand more then the water. It turned out to be a really nice day. Then we stopped for ice cream and I think Peter liked his.

09.18.09

OKAY, SO I have had the BEST BIRTHDAY TODAY!!! I don't even know where to start or what to talk about.

Two of my BFF (best friends forever) came over this afternoon and we sewed the day away making pumpkins (more later on that - watch for the fabric pumpkin post when I get them done.) None of this was planned, Liberty and I have been talking about making the pumpkins after I saw them online and she was dropping some things by and we started talking about how to make them. Next thing I know we are cutting and sewing the afternoon away. Sonrisa called me and I asked her to come and play with us. Her kids were up from their nap and she wanted to get out of the house and so she came and made a pumpkin too. The kids had the best time with the stickers and paper Liberty brought over. I don't think we heard from them for a good hour. They were in STICKER HEAVEN, what child doesn't love stickers.
{SEE PICTURE BELOW}
THEN Dave and I got a babysitter and we went to dinner at Carrabbas . . . YUMMY. . . Then to top it off my ward had a party at the church just for me . . . At least that is what I told the organizer of the GAME NIGHT . . . They did sing to me and I brought the most delicious chocolate cake EVER!! It was covered with Peanut Butter Buttercream and had Reese's Peanut Butter Cups both on top and inside. It was TO DIE FOR!! I'll be making that one again. Here is the link to the website here

All in all this has been a very fun birthday. Thanks everyone for making it so much fun!!!

09.17.09

Peter serving up dinner to his "girlfriends". One of my friends needed someone to watch her kids and so I knew we had playgroup and figured that would be much easier then my house with all three girls and so we went to the church early and began playing. The kids set up the table and the girls sat down. Peter brought a pan to the table and it looked like he was serving them {although he probably just wanted to be in the middle of it all truly.}

09.16.09

Wednesdays are getting busier. I signed Peter up for a gymnastic class in the morning and Kirsten has her dance classes in the afternoon. Peter took to gymnastics like a fish to water. He LOVED it!! Before the class started another class was finishing up but we were able to come in and watch. Before I knew it Peter had socks and shoes OFF and away he went. I had to corral him back and make him wait. {What a struggle that WAS.} Once class began he became shy and withdrawn but once things got moving HE WAS THERE!! He got to go around the "circuit" and do many different things including somersaults, hot dog rolls, balance beam, jumping and the BAR. Peter loved the bar. He was swinging back and forth for awhile and then up went his feet and touched the bar. It was pretty amazing. He is pretty flexible and loves to jump, hop or somersault anywhere. What a funny boy!

Do we have a clean dish in the house? UHH, I don't know?

{In my defense - the floor had been mopped and the main level carpets vaccuumed. Does that count?}

09.14.09

Okay I know I said no more quilts but this one just needed to be made. I tried two new techniques (one that my friend had tried and I loved the quilt she made.) I wanted to try a shabby looking top which was way simple and I wanted to try the sewn scallop. I don't know if I am impressed with how it turned out. I had a couple of problems. I wanted to use scraps I had at home and because of that I used things I had found at the thrift store and things I had at home. Which means I didn't know if they would fray alike {which they didn't - notice the light blue small square} and I only had high loft batting which is good if you want it puffy but I knew this technique would be better with a cotton flat batting. Lastly the stitched around scallop looked good before it got washed and now it has this frayed look that I guess I didn't think it would look that way and I have to fix a couple spots because I cut way to close to my stiching.
BUT if you look at it, it looks perfectly soft for a new baby to lay in and feel the love that is in it. So despite all the negative I think it will be a perfect blanket for someone.

09.12.09

Peter was being really funny when he was trying to pop the bubble wrap. He scrunched up his face and made it look like he was using all of his strength to pop the bubbles. Go Peter GO!!

09.11.09 Remembered

This picture is a bit more appropriate for today, we will never forget what happened. America is an amazing place to live.

09.11.09

This was the third time I either found Peter without clothes on or in the process of taking his clothes off. I had just changed his diaper this time and . . . zip off he ran to look out the window. Then . . . zip off he runs to get out of the room. I was actually able to pose him for this picture to eliminate a picture with too much nudity. He is a funny kid. I can barely keep up with him some days and he has figured out the dodge moms grab move quiet efficiently.

09.10.09

Ummm, I have procrastinated doing the continuing education I need to do for my pharmacist license. I have to do 12 credits "LIVE" or online before the end of the month. I have almost all of them done but tonight I was doing another one to help me get to twelve. I have been doing about two or more for the last 3 weeks. I will be done next week, I think for the next renewal I will try and do them once a month.
It is interesting to do these, it puts my mind back in the pharmacy mode. Although it does show me how much I have lost in the last 3 years since I "retired".

09.09.09

First off isn't the date cool. 09.09.09 I have a thing about numbers. It is just too cool to see the three numbers together. Anyway, just one of those weird things about me.
Today was busy, I went to the bishop's storehouse to can some things. We had a nice evening and now I have more wheat and other things. I haven't been for awhile and know I need to go again. Now I just need to figure out where to put it. Under the beds? Not the most ideal but I am running out of room on the main level.

09.08.09

Kirsten ran out my favorite Jelly Roll pen on Sunday and so we went to Micheal's with our 50% off coupon yesterday and bought new pens. Now we can "share" them. I think Kirsten is going to use them all up before I get a chance to play with them myself. Oh well, You are only a kid once. {That is what I tell myself in cases like this - - I sometimes have issues with sharing my scrapbook stuff. But the funny thing is that she uses them 10 times more then I do.}

09.07.09

We had dinner at the Cameron's tonight. We made dutch oven Tater Tot casserole that was really yummy! Then we made the Cameron's famous chocolate sauce to go over ice cream. It was yummilicious!! {We also played with their little people set and made a mess of their family room.}

What a fun night and we are glad we got to spend it with the Cameron's.
