09.01.12 Today is the day we began ordering our counter tops. The kids loved this race car shopping cart. And I would have to except it became a fighting point and was kind of dangerous as they climbed in and out and back and forth. They are all 48 fans just like mom and so what else would we do if we saw the number 48 Race car there at Lowe's. Too bad we didn't have all the measurements right and have to come back on Monday to finish our order. We have decide to go with Quartz and think it will be so beautiful once it is in in 4-6 weeks. (That's without a sink in the kitchen, ugh)
09.03.12 Way back in the spring, a group of friends and I were talking about possibly doing a 5K. At the time I thought - NO WAY! I walk everyday but to run a 5K. That is insane. But then the more I thought about it, the more I thought it would probably be a great way to "lose weight". Fast forward to today. After having strep throat, my hip hurting and a variety of other excuse I went and walked a 5K today. It was a pretty mild 5K, which was probably good for a beginner like me and I walked it in 52:24. I wasn't really fast but I was able to finally pass these two ladies that had been ahead of me for most the race after mile 2. And because I was the last of our group, I think I had the biggest cheering section. Thanks Liberty, Naomi and Angelika and their families for cheering me on! You guys are awesome.
I felt pretty good about it and now find myself walking 2 to 3 miles almost every day in hopes that next time I go I can improve my time. I don't know if I will ever be able to run it since my hip hurts after I run. Maybe if I lose some more weight it won't be so hard on my hip and I can run.
After our trip to Lowe's to finish our order, we were invited to dinner at the Camerons. The kids had a great time and Esther when asked whether she wanted the marshmallow covered brownie or the rice krispie treat, said "Yes". And Liberty couldn't resist that cute face and gave her both. Thanks Liberty for dinner and the pictures. I don't know where my head is. I am just not putting my camera in my bag all the time like I used to.
09.05.12 We filled our dumpster bag with all the construction trash and so they came and picked it up. Too bad it was such a crummy rainy morning and the kids had to peer through the window to watch the crane lift the bag into the dumpster. I tried to get a couple pictures but didn't want to get the camera wet. The kids thought it was the coolest thing and I was super happy that both Kirsten and Peter were home to watch it.
09.06.12 Kirsten's soccer coach decided to switch her practices from Tuesdays to Mondays and so thus began our double soccer practice Mondays. Kirsten 5 pm then Peter at 6 pm. Good thing it has been nice and the kids can run around while mom and dad watch from the sidelines. Esther is pretty good, especially if the Ipod comes out for a little bit.

09.07.12 The long awaited daddy-daughter hayride was tonight. It had been raining pretty much all day and so they had to move the event to the park district building rather then the park. But they would have the hayride rain or no rain. They clouds moved out and the rain stopped just before the program began. They got to watch a show, eat dinner, ride on the hayride and play games. Kirsten had a great time and I think dad did too.
One of Esther's favorite things to do is put on other people's shoes, it doesn't really matter whose shoes. Today she was pretty funny in mom's high healed shoes as she clomped around the kitchen. They make great sounds on the new wood floor.
09.08.12 Soccer picture day. Top is Peter and the Blue Lightening and the bottom is Kirsten and the Bronze Eagles.
09.13.12 Today Esther had her cardiologist appointment. The good news is that we don't have to see the doctor for 6 more months. The okay news is that although her arteries that feed her lungs {pulmonary arteries} are still smaller then they should be, her body has compensated in a good way. She has no complications from it like an enlarged heart and so we are still on the wait and see if she will ever need surgery. An all clear from the cardiologist is time to celebrate. Esther and I stopped at Portillos for lunch and then took it to a park on the way home. She was not in the mood to be photographed and obviously when I attempted the self portrait I didn't get my head in it all the way.
The top right photo is one of my favorite things that Esther does right now. She picks up that dog carrier bag, her purse, and carries it on her shoulder. But to be able to keep it there quite often she will put her hand in the air to compensate for sliding off the arm. It is absolutely adorable. I wish I could write down how she says purse. It kind of sounds like "poous". It was fun to have a mommy daughter date.
09.17.12 Today after we walked Kirsten to school we decided to get out the chalk and toys and play outside. It was a beautiful day and I sat and watched these two play for awhile.
09.18.12 I played it pretty low key this year for my birthday. Every time someone asked what I wanted I was pretty non committal. Our house is in chaos and so I really can't think of adding anything else to the mess. So I hinted that I wouldn't mind it if Dave brought home a Portillos cake. {I wasn't about to make one without my sink and in my crazy kitchen.} He delivered and also brought a dozen long stemmed red roses. What a sweetheart. He knows the way to my heart, cake and roses. Debbie brought me a big large cookie and ice cream and took my kids for the morning. I spent the morning getting my hair cut, shopping and taking myself to lunch. Then later we went to the Parker's and the kids played for a couple of hours after school. It was a pretty nice day.
09.20.12 Someone in the neighborhood left a huge tree branch in the back field behind our house or in the huge windstorm it blew down. My kids and the neighbor's kids decided it was a fort and they began work on getting it to work for them. Building something with the dirt and shovels that I still don't understand what they were doing. Also making a flag to go on it. They worked on it most of the afternoon and so I came out again and just watched. It was amazing how long they could all work on that project. Esther didn't help all that much, she kept taking the mini wagon they had or the lawn mower and wandering off with it. At one point I think she was "sliding" down the dirt pile. Yep, that was a good idea.
