10.31.09

We have had a fun filled day. Kirsten could barely stand the wait. I said once Peter was up from his nap we could go. {They trick or treat from 3 to 7 pm here.} Once Peter was up it was a few photo ops with mom and then off we went. It was pretty cold and so we had to wear our coats this year. No luck of 65 or 75 degrees, more like 45 or 50 {if we were lucky}. And the cold wind didn't help.
We were also invited to a Halloween Party at the Cameron's house. We had YUMMY food - like Chili, mummy dogs, pumpkin cupcakes, french bread, and veggies. It was all so good we gobbled it up and then played a couple of rounds of Carnival on the Wii. Kirsten was having a pretty good time with it. Peter played a couple rounds but had more fun putting the paper bowls on his head and chasing his new friend Megan around.

Here is Dash and Cinderella at our wards Trunk or Treat Carnival. It was so much fun, although from Kirsten's attitude all night you would have thought we dragged her out to come to the party. I don't know if was nerves or what but she was withdrawn and pouty. Dave threatened to take her home if she didn't start to have fun. That perked her up a bit and the redeeming the tickets for prizes seem to change her attitude a bit. Peter just was having fun but after getting the candy he couldn't get enough.
Have you figured out my costume? What candy is in a roll and what are they attached to?
Did you figure it out? Smartie pants.

My friend Liberty is the far left bottom picture. Do you think the costume fits? Think about her name - it took me a minute to figure it out when she called me on the phone begging me to help her sew it. I think we did a pretty good job. She did most of the hard work, I just helped with the cutting and the seams. {and maybe a little of the how to.}

Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins. I made these cute pumpkin rolls from a bread bowl idea I saw here. These are more like a roll then a bread bowl. Kirsten and I spent the afternoon making french bread and cookies too. It was a nice day to bake and get things done. Kirsten had her party at school and she wore her costume and paraded around the school. I would have gone with Peter except he threw up in the morning. Didn't feel like exposing the whole school to something he might have. {He is fine now - I think it was all the phlegm he swallowed over night.}

10.27.09

I can't deny help even if it means I have to mop up the puddles forming in my kitchen. Peter was determined to do it by himself, no help from mom. Kirsten was in the background blowing bubbles. I let her do it in the house if she did it in the kitchen. I figure messes are easier to clean up there. Then as I was uploading pictures to post - Peter waltzed up the stairs. And here he is . . . { I died laughing, he is such a cutie. }

This has been a very familiar scene the last couple of days. Between bouts with the flu Dave has been trying to get his work done at home. Normally he wouldn't be home on Thursday, Friday or Monday but it was easier then going in to work and feeling crummy. Now he can feel crummy and be at home where he can rest, and wear sweats and no shoes for 5 days straight. Dave has a huge project due by the end of this week and he was supposed to be working on it on Saturday but after two hours he ended up in bed, so now he is playing catch up. Sorry you have so much to do!! It's been nice having you home - it also saved us some money {no gas or lunch money spent}. . . plus it is always nice to have you home. . . BUT CAN I HAVE THE COMPUTER BACK!!! I'm going through withdrawls. ;) teehee, teehee!!

{Hey this has been a nice anniversary weekend, don't you think??? 11 years and counting on last Friday!}

10.25.09

We have been going through tissues like they are going out of style. With both kids having runny noses and Dave coming down with the flu this weekend we finished off two boxes. Last night I had to run and get some meds so Dave might be able to sleep. He is now dealing with a headache from the lack of food yesterday. YIKES, sorry you are so sick sweetie.

10.24.09

Our first Halloween party was today. The kids {mainly Kirsten} were so excited. I'm not sure she knew what was going on at first. Of course she was just excited to get into her costume. They had a magician at the event and Kirsten volunteered to "help". If I hadn't been on the floor already I might have fallen off a chair. She is pretty shy {or at least I thought she was} and so it was pretty unexpected to see her up there. I think both kids had a pretty fun time and I love that when I was taking pictures outside the building after that I actually caught Dash in action, neither of his feet were touching the ground.

10.23.09

I was the guest reader at school and because of school policy that you can't take pictures there I took this when we got home. {WHY? Kirsten whined.} Poor girl you'd think I was punishing her by taking a picture. She should know why by now!! Don't we do this every day?

10.22.09

I had sewing class tonight and this is all I have to show for it. {A doll diaper I found while cleaning out my fabric bin.} HEE!HEE! I helped my friend Liberty make a costume. I will get a picture of it at our ward's trunk or treat next week. You will see what amazing work we did!!

10.21.09

What a beautiful day!! Peter and I walked to 'nastics and then back home. I couldn't help but take a million pictures of the beautiful trees along the bike path. I feel lucky that the sun decided to warm us back up and come out to play again. I love the smell of fall and love to hear the crunch under my feet as I walk. {Peter loves to kick the leaves as he walks. I think it is the same thing as what I love.}

Don't I live in a beautiful place???

10.20.09

This is Mini Me. {Refer back to the 09.18.09 post} My friend gave me the leftovers from the apron she made me so I could make one for Kirsten. She is a funny kid. I got all done making it and she said two things that made me laugh.

"Why did you make this?" {She asked for it, duh.}

"Why is it falling off my shoulders?" {This after I tried it on before sewing the shoulder straps, and she said it was fine. Silly girl.}

10.19.09

Today the sun was shining and the leaves were falling everywhere and so on the way home from school we gathered leaves. We found yellow, orange, green and red ones. Small ones and large ones. Then we spent the next little while making place mats out of paper, leaves and contact paper. It was fun and the kids keep talking about how they made the place mats. It was a pretty fun activity.

10.18.09

Why do I have a train and the Bulls game on the Sunday post you ask? Well today was a bittersweet day for our family. Dave was released from the bishopric this afternoon and on Friday (the 16th) Dave had gone with the Bishop (and the bishopric members) to a Bull's game downtown. And so this collage seemed appropriate. {It was actually the first time he had ridden the Metra and so for Peter he had to take the train picture.}
Our life is going to change a bit around here, I think I like the idea but I am having a difficult time with the release. I guess I am not ready for it and so it is hard for me. But as with all change in life it can be hard at first. {Next week when he gets to sit with us during church I might be changing my tune. Wahoo!!}

10.17.09

Our Relief Society meeting {Formerly known as Enrichment meeting} was this morning. Despite the power going out 2 minutes after we started and coming on about 45 minutes later. We had an amazing meeting. The power outtage didn't stop our wonderful, amazing panelist from giving us their presentations. The spirit was amazing and the meeting fulfilled many needs for many sisters. I am grateful that I have an amazing committee that helps me to put these meetings together and also that Heavenly Father gives me inspiration on what the sisters in our ward truly need.
Our displays were amazing, the speakers were amazing, the food was amazing. I MUST SAY THIS WAS AN AMAZING DAY. {I don't think I said AMAZING enough - could you tell I liked it?}

10.16.09

NO this isn't an ad for JoAnn's but this is the much anticipated opening of the new store by our house. Of course it is further away {about 1/2 a block} and is much larger then the last, BUT the most important part {and the reason I'm blogging about it} is that I can go in and buy two things and walk out with just two things {and not a whole bolt of something.}
I walked in to the store, we (the kids and I) found the felt squares we needed and picked up an orange one and a yellow one. Then we proceeded to wander around the store touching and looking at the beautiful fabrics - all in color coordination with so much selection we almost went into a trance. But awaking from our trance we walked over and stood in line. {The lady in front of us was so suprised we had the will power to only get two items.} And promptly laid down $ 0.50 and walked out of the store. {We just needed to see pretty fabric again.}
{Trust me - next week we won't get out of there with only 50 cents.}

OOOOoooo! The beautiful colors of Fall. I love it when the leaves change around here. On the way past the church last night Peter saw this tree and said "I love the red tree." It was so cute and so when we got to playgroup today I decided that needed to be my picture of the day. Some of those RED trees. I love all the colors and love to drive down the tree lined streets and see the magnificent spectacle of nature.

I have a thing for cards. Because of my calling I like to send Thank you notes to people who help out at our events. I also like to just have cards on hand to send to friends and family. I just like cards. Homemade ones, store bought ones, thank you ones, blank ones. They are really pretty and I can't help myself when they are on clearance at Target. They just fall into my basket and ask to come home with me. {Who can resists such cuties?}

WHOA!
{I love that the garbage man dumped his load in front of our house with my boy and the neighbors boys looking on. It made me smile when the only thing out of Peter's mouth was whoa!}

10.12.09

Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins. I was making pumpkins to give my visiting teaching ladies and Kirsten insisted on having one. Of course when you make one for her, you have to make one for Peter. The ones in the tote behind the polka dot ones need their bottoms sewn up. These are so easy and fun to make, it almost seems like I am playing when I make them.
{ I finished Kirsten's dress and now await the opening of our new JoAnn's store next week so I can get some fabric for part of Peter's. }

10.11.09

Peter and I went to Sacrament meeting only today. I needed to talk to a couple of ladies and I felt a strong desire to give my testimony. I have felt extremely blessed this week and wanted to publicly thank those who helped me and also my Heavenly Father. I know that He is real and will answer prayers.

While Peter was napping I chose to watch part of the last session of General Conference. I missed a good portion of it last week because Peter was not feeling well. I am glad I watched the speakers I did today. They encouraged me to be and do better in my life. Their messages seemed catered to me. {I know everyone else heard them to, but I needed to hear those messages today.} I want to become more like Jesus and follow in his footsteps.

10.10.09

What party would be complete without a couple princesses. Here is Kirsten with two of her friend at Bristol's Birthday No. 5. It looks like they had a lot of fun. {I did too, I went shopping and got out of the house without any kids!! It has been a long week being couped up in the house, I took this opportunity and ran with it. . . REALLY GOOD FOR MOM!!}

10.09.09

I have overcome my nemesis. I have put a zipper in Kirsten's costume. Have I told you how much I hate zippers? Well I hate them, they always pucker, they always look bad . . . B U T this time it worked I was patient I unpicked a little but I did it, and if you didn't know better you would think it was perfect. I think it looks pretty good. All that is left is the hemming . . . I guess I need to get that done soon.

10.08.09

Here are some WAY cute flowers. My friend Liberty was making some on Conference Sunday and let Kirsten pick out a couple from her stash. They were unfinished and so while I have been house bound I have finished them up. I think they turned out pretty cute. Kirsten wore the pink one in the lower right corner to school and then when she got home she saw that I had finished the others and wore the one on the top left. She is such a girly girl. Loves dresses and flowery things. I love it because I love to dress her in those kind of things. I think I may make a couple more. It was nice to work on them while Peter wasn't feeling good. It gave me a sense of accomplishment since most of my house and everything that needs to be done has been on hold since Sunday night.
{WHERE DID MY WEEK GO?}
