Playing at the park with the Parkers. Our favorite friends with us at the park. It started a bit windy but ended up being pretty warm by the time we left. Loved being outside and enjoying the sunshine.

A bit of light reading. . . Kirsten was searching for chapters and reading "Chapter 1" . . . "Chapter 22", I thought it was pretty funny. . . Of course the funny part was when Peter said (to the back of my head) are you going to turn that (the computer) off?? . . Ummm . . . I guess I was spending too much time that morning on the computer. . . time to shut that computer off, mom!!!

Today our ward celebrated Easter with a morning devotional before church. . . yes we were there at 8 am. Our ward choir sang, a couple smaller groups performed and a 8 or 9 piece string ensemble played. It was amazing and beautiful and helped begin the Easter season with the true reason we celebrate . . . Jesus. It was song after song about Christ. I loved it. . . . I think it was my favorite part of the whole day. They also served breakfast - mostly finger food - which I'm sure was good but because we were practicing with the choir, I didn't get much.
This is the twirly dress I have been working on, for months it was just an idea I had found on the internet that I wanted for Kirsten and this week I decided I wanted it for Easter (or our pretend week before Easter). It is so full and it makes you want to twirl. I love to make things for Kirsten that she loves.

We had our annual party with the Easter bunny. The kids had fun and got some eggs. The funniest part of the day was when Peter insisted on going back over to see the bunny . . . BUT when he got there he stood about 5 feet away and just stared at him. I'm not sure what he was thinking but it was funny to watch him inch closer and closer but never get back up on his lap.

Okay this is not at the Relief Society birthday social and this is really the after affects of the party. The cultural hall was decorated cute with pink, purple, yellow and green. We played a fun game of GUESS WHOSE SHOE? People brought in a shoe and answered some questions and the sisters were required to figure out who belonged to what shoe. We had a list of the names of the sister on a rolling chalkboard. We had about 35 different sisters shoes and the winner figured out 14. That's pretty good . . . don't know if she figured out by the shoe or the answers. We had foot cakes and shoes on the tables (the paper kind) and tulips. It was so beautiful but I ALWAYS forget to take pictures . . . my camera was in my bag even. . . OH WELL!!! I think it was a fun night and I think the sisters had fun getting to know each other and their love of shoes.

Today we had another nice day and a lot of friends over. Sonrisa came over and helped me around the house and then Debbie dropped her kids off so she could go down town to a show and while we were outside the neighbor Jane came over with Sierra. Fun times. My kids love to be outside and I love that they are so good to stay mostly on the bike path. I forget other kids don't know the "rules" of where we play when we are outside and so it took me a minute or two to explain where we could play.

Kirsten wore her Pajama's to school today because it was PJ day at school. It was kind of fun for her and made it real easy for me at bedtime.

03.21.10 take 2
Here is my mighty warrior - standing with the Whole Armor of God. Our amazing home teachers taught us a wonderful lesson on the whole armor of God. Kirsten was the model since Peter decided he wanted to do something else and kept taking things off. I love that you can barely see Kirsten's eyes and it was too funny that even when she nodded you could barely tell. She was such a trooper . . . not sure if she understood the lesson . . . but it was a very good visual for me.

This is what happens when Choir Practice is after church and during lunch time. The kids get out of hand. These two were so funny I had to take a picture of their cute feet. They would come out from the curtain to grab a couple of teddy graham bears and then climb back into the curtains and sit down. {It wasn't Peter, he went home with Dave and Kirsten.}

We had a long day today - we started the morning off at the church cleaning. Then off to the Parker's birthday party. Then for dinner we went back to the church for the service auction. All and all it was a pretty busy day.
Kirsten was so funny at the party. She sat right in the middle of the two kids while they opened their gifts. "Helping" them open their presents. Good thing the Parker's are our good friends.

Ever since Papa left I have been craving that Sukiyaki that he made. We had the left over beef from when he made it and so I decided to make it tonight. Of course it is way too much food for just the two of us (the kids only like the noodles), so we invited the Parker's over to help us eat it.
Here is Peter and Kirsten helping me prep the vegetables. Peter is in that "do it myself" stage and insisted on peeling the carrots. I have to say he figured it out, except he kept peeling and peeling in the same spot. He is funny that way. Kirsten is trying to cut things with a bread knife. At least that way no one gets their fingers chopped off.

Tonight I had a "Free" serger class to teach me how to use my new fangled serger. I say "free" because $25 later I had 5 threads for my serger that don't match each other, but I learned how to thread and rethread my serger because of these 5 threads. Hopefully next week we can learn how to use the serger. I always hate it when the say something is free and you come away with something out of your pocketbook - geez didn't I spend enough on the machine????

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you! We started the morning off right with green eggs and ham. That's about the extent of our celebrating. We don't do much except try and wear green and eat green things. Peter decided he didn't want eggs, but Kirsten and I ate them up.

03.16.10

My friend Debbie brought by some coool shamrock cupcakes and beautiful daffodils. It was so nice to see her and chat for a moment.
The kids took the opportunity to enjoy the warm weather today. I'm glad my neighbor has these cool toys for the kids to ride. Kirsten wants one now. {Only if I can find one at Salvation Army for real cheap.} Peter is also learning to pedal the tricycle. He was pretty proud of himself, although it is much slower for him then just pushing really fast with his feet.

03.15.10

Today was my first appointment with the OB. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about how she would react. I'm not a new mom, I have many complications, and I am still reeling from the fact that this is all happening. BUT she was sweet, she listened to my concerns and she called this baby A BLESSING. Now that is the truth. A blessing from Heaven, a blessing in my life and an opportunity to add a special spirit to our family. Now that is truly a blessing.
I was grateful to see the heartbeat today. That is always my concern. She measured the baby at 7 weeks and said my due date is 11-04-10.

Peter is enamored with my make up. While I wasn't watching he got into my powder this morning. He thinks he is pretty cute. Well he is, but when will it sink in that makeup is for girls and not boys??

Mom you never buy me anything. {We've been doing some shopping lately for Dad, Peter and me and Kirsten seems to be left out of the mix.} So today I went to craft fair with Liberty and Janet. We wandered around and picked up new ideas to make and also we all stopped at the same booth and bought flowers and headbands. I figured I couldn't come home without buying something for Kirsten. She loved it. Isn't she just cute!?!?

Welcome new friend!!!
So here is how the conversation went with Dave. "I'm here at a sewing store near where I'm working this week."
"Uh-huh?"
"They have this serger here that is normally $3500 dollars that is a really good price."
"Okay?"
"Do you want me to get it for you?"
"Ummmm. . . . How much?"
Pause on my part as he tells me the price again.
"I don't know Dave that is more then I wanted to spend."
"It's too good of a deal to pass up, I'll buy it for you."
"Umm, okay" {whose going to turn down someone who is willing to buy you a new play toy!!}

03.11.10
The first THUNDERSTORM of the season. It began right before bedtime and didn't seem to want to let up. So we snuggled in Kirsten's bed until the storm calmed down and I was able to get Peter back in his bed.

03.10.10
I was amazed today as I watched Kirsten running around with the ball. She was pretty good at kicking and sending it flying. Maybe I should put her in soccer? Peter is still learning but he loves to throw it rather then just kick it. Today was one of those nice spring days that remind us that winter is almost over.

Kirsten has been chasing "lady bugs" all around the house for the last couple of days. We had a small infestation. We kept finding them in the windows.

Evidence of spring on the way. It makes me smile to know that soon enough it will be green trees and flowers everywhere. . . WELCOME SPRING!!! {Winters are tough here in Chicago and this last month has been cold every day, with no teaser warm days like we had on Saturday.}

Mom wasn't feeling so good. . . Dad wasn't feeling so good. . . so we skipped out on church. The kids kept themselves busy for most of the morning. . . around 11 am Kirsten looked at me and said "why didn't we go to church?" Kind of funny that she barely realized that almost 2 hours later. . . {I guess the kids can get along together every once in a while. . . playing in the toy box}

This is what you do in Chicago when it "warms" up to 45 degrees. I'm sure if we lived somewhere else this would be a coooold day. We were soaking up the rays, bikin' and "fishin' " in the gutter.

Liberty and I had a much needed sewing/crafting/chatting time together today. We have both had a pretty tough week (about separate things) and we needed some time to get our creative juices flowing. We were trying out a new project for our craft group and then I was using my serger to help finish some edges for some tote bags Liberty was making. Peter is always my sewing sidekick. Although when I am truly serging I don't let his hands get that close to the blade. He just wants to "help me" by feeding the fabric through or when I am sewing he loves to pull out the pins as we go. It can be frustrating but I am loving it. I know he won't be "helping" me in a couple of years and so I take what I can get. Who knows maybe he will be a famous designer, or NOT?? {Thanks Liberty for the pictures, I had a hard time picking one.}
