07.30.10

I'm really sorry that you inherited your father's eyes.  We were truly hoping that because one of us is near sighted and the other is far sighted that it would even itself out and you would have good eyes.  But alas you now have to wear glasses to read and do school work.  We think you are pretty cute in your glasses and we are glad you are excited to wear them.

07.29.10

You never know how much you rely on the internet until it is down for 2 days.  The green light that says online was not on and we couldn't figure out what was wrong.  Finally we were able to get Comcast to come out and see that it was their line outside that wasn't connecting good.  YEAH!!  It's back!!

07.28.10

My Purse had started to fall apart and I have really wanted to make this purse for myself, but have let other things go first.  I really wanted to make this today and thanks to the kids being really good and Dave watching them while I sewed in the evening - I was able to finish this beautiful purse and matching clutch.  I even figured out how to make it with a zipper pocket (which is half the reason I haven't really made it before now.)

07.27.10

In the never ending saga of Peter vs. Mom and Dad, here is another attempt at not going to bed when mom and dad ask.  Dad asked him to go to bed.  I guess we didn't clarify that we meant - "In your bed".  We got up from watching TV and found him on the stair - sound asleep.  Oh, Peter you win tonight.

07.26.10

Today I had my ultrasound with the pediatric cardiologist.  It went really good.  He read through Hanna's autopsy report and other paperwork I gave to him so that he would have a better idea of what he was up against.  He worked intently to look at not just the chambers of the heart, but also at the aorta and pulmonary arteries.  He said it all looked normal and that I didn't need any more ultrasounds from him, but that I should have him look at her before she leaves the hospital.  I felt like I could fly out of the office.  I know that this isn't an absolute "nothing is wrong" but it was the best news we could have had.

I couldn't decide which picture to scan and so I made a collage.  The first one is of her lips and nose.  It was so cute and I was so surprised they could get such a good picture of it.  The other three are almost all the same picture, but she was so cute and posed so perfectly I had to add them all.

There was only one glitch in my appointment.  I had had another level 2 ultrasound before my appointment and they said that the doctor was busy and asked if I could wait until the room opened up.  I went back into the lobby and waited.  I heard them talking about Mrs. Anderson was next to go and then everyone went to lunch.  People were still in the office but it was kind of confusing.  I was kind of oblivious as I was reading a fairly interesting book and it kept my attention for awhile.  I watched as different people came and went to their appointments.  There are many different doctors and so I didn't think much about it.  Then everyone was gone.  No one was in the lobby.  Finally I went up to the desk and asked them when I would be seen.  They were kind of shocked I was still out there (almost an hour past my appointment).  I was getting hungry and had to go to the bathroom.  They had some how put my paper work in the wrong place and no one noticed me since I wasn't sitting in view from the window.  They had actually been trying to call me at home to tell me I had left my paper work.  Silly ladies.  It was after 2 when I finally got out of there.  I stopped to get lunch before I picked the kids up from my great friend Sonrisa.  She had had them all morning long since Kirsten had been at her house for the Pre-K class we do each Monday.  What a saint, good thing she and I didn't have any plans for the afternoon.  I came home and crashed.  What a long day!

07.24.10

Today was Liberty's surprise birthday party.  Jason had called me a couple of weeks ago to put this all together.  I had questioned Liberty about what her favorite cake was and had read on her blog how much she wanted to have a red, white and blue party and so I ran with it.  We had her favorite Dutch oven Chocolate cake which is "better then you know what cake".  I decorated the church gym with red, white and blue decorations and people brought food.  It was a great time.  I realized that I didn't take any pictures of the people at the party.  I know I am a space cadet but really - no pictures of anyone except one of the table with Liberty getting food.  I hope she had a nice time, I know that she was truly surprised.  I had the easy part - Jason had to keep it all a secret and figure out how to get her to the church.

07.23.10

It was the perfect day for swimming at the swimming pool.  We invited the Parkers to come with us to our pool.  The temperature outside was over 90 degrees and the humidity was 70 to 80 % - which makes the heat index over 100.  It was nice to be wet and not because we were sweating.

07.22.10

Another HOT day and another day at the splash park for playgroup.  This is becoming a really nice habit.  It makes us all little nicer when we are cool rather then hot.  Peter got closer to the water then before.  Maybe next week if it is still hot we will get him in the water.  Maybe, maybe not??

07.21.10

Sometimes around here it is self serve breakfast.  At least that is what Peter thinks.  I came around the corner and saw him getting some yogurt.  At least he didn't spill it all over the floor.

07.20.10

Today mom had her favorite doctor's appointment for the glucose screening.  (I failed of course.)  But Peter got an early birthday present.  My friend who watched the kids while I was at my appointment offered this basketball hoop for the kids.  Of course I wasn't going to turn it down.  He loves throwing the ball in the hoop.

07.19.10

One of those errand days.  We went to lots of stores and Peter was a klutz twice.  He fell down before we left and scraped his knee and then at the post office he tripped over my foot as we left the post office and scraped the other knee and his elbow.  Not one of his better days.

07.16.10 Pioneer Celebration

We have had a pretty eventful day.  The day ended at the church with our ward to celebrate Pioneer Day.  We circled the wagons and enjoyed our meals together.  Our activities committee also took the children and played games with them on the field next to our church.  I had to laugh at Peter and couldn't resist this face as he asked for another bowl of ice cream with chocolate sauce.
We along with the Camerons had a "dutch oven" dinner together, the Camerons made their yummmmmmmmy chocolate sauce and also provided the ice cream, at least this year we brought more then a half-gallon ice cream, since we ended up sharing it with everyone last year - I think they were eating the sauce without the ice cream when we got done last year.

07.16.10 Princess Party

In the land of Downer's Grove lived a wonderful lady named Sharon, who had a party and invited many little princesses and fairies.  It was amongst the fairy homes and beautiful flowers that little girls danced and played.  {The boys were "banished" to the basement to play video games and play with toys.}  The girls were treated to pink, purple or yellow purses filled with princesses to play with.  The festivities continued on inside where a delicious lunch of mac-n-cheese was served in cups along with peanut butter and jam triangular sandwiches.  The girls delighted in the food and enjoyed the cookies and pink lemonade.  The mother's of the princesses dined on fine Portillo's salad, fruit and muffins.  Fun was had by all!!

07.15.10

Another hot day here in Woodridge - I think it was already around 80 to 85 degrees at 9 am this morning.  So good thing play group was at the Hobson Splash Park.  I think the squirt gun and drinking the water was a close to getting wet as Peter got.  Of course Kirsten and I both got into the water and kept getting wet the whole time we were there.  IT WAS UNCOMFORTABLE IF YOU WERE NOT WET!!

07.13.10

Baby girl clothes are extra cute.  I found these today after I dropped Kirsten off at a "swimming" party for her friends primary class.  I was such a space cadet, around 2 pm the lady called me and asked if Kirsten was coming.  She had invited Kirsten since her friend Helen is the only girl in her primary class.  I claim pregnancy brain for the total lack of remembering.
But back to the clothes - I found these today - the red, white and blue one is just a onesie that has a skirt attached to it and shoes appliqued on the front.  I thought to myself - I can do that - and so I bought the cute brown one to "make" one for the baby.  Kirsten couldn't handle how cute they were.  She kept thinking that they were too small - little does she know how small they come.

07.12.10

Each week for the last month or so, Kirsten has been going to a Pre-K club meeting at one of the other kids houses.  Well today was our day.  Kirsten was SOOOOOO excited.  She helped me get all the things together and helped clean up the house (not too happy about that part.)  Our lesson was on colors and so we read a couple of books, reviewed through the colors, did a worksheet where they both colored an object and also traced the words.  After a little of time I brought out the play dough that I had made last night.  We had read a book about mice mixing colors and then took pieces of the red, yellow and blue dough and mixed them together to see what we would come up with.  I think the kids thought that was pretty fun.  Then after that they got to play with the play dough and make what ever they wanted to.  I got out the cookie cutters and we played with the dough for a while.  I thought the dough was pretty cool and made the rainbow with it.  Peter just made muddy looking play dough.

07.10.10 Swimming Pool

The kids went to the pool with Dad today.  Dave actually remembered  to take pictures.  The kids love, love, love the water and had a great time.  I was helping Liberty finish up her quilt at the church.

07.10.10

I couldn't resist this picture of Peter and Kirsten sitting on the couch with the chairs we took last night to the race and Peter with both the ear covers and binoculars.  What funny kids.

07.09.10

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!  This is Dave's early birthday present.  We bought some tickets to the Nascar Nationwide Series Race today.  It couldn't have been a more perfect day (unless it was 10 degrees cooler), the sun was shining, there was a nice breeze and our seats were great (except the hike up 4 flights of stairs - - - then the climb to the top).
We had a fun time and were there early enough to watch the qualifying for the Sprint Cup race for tomorrow.  We had a great view and were able to see everything.  It was fun to watch the racers go around the track and try to pass each other.  I watched out for one of the girls on the track - Danica Patrick - she is kind of like a mini celebrity, being a woman and also a racer in the Indy series.  She doesn't do real well in these races but I was excited to cheer her on even though she came in 24th.  The winner was the one and only Kyle Busch.  He has many enemies and the race ended with a bit of a controversy and so it was interesting to see the crowds response.  He won the race we watched last year.

07.08.10

Ummm, it just rained a little bit last night - you can't see it in this picture but there is about a 1/2 inch to an inch of rain in the upside down swimming pool.

07.07.10

We had our craft/sewing group today and it was a bring your unfinished projects day or help us with this quilt day.  I kind of felt a bit stretched as I wanted to help both Liberty and the other ladies with their sewing projects.  I have to admit, I worked tooooo long and paid for it later by feeling really crummy.  Oh well, will I ever learn.

07.06.10

Gee, I can't figure out why our neighborhood sounded like a war zone. . .  I came around the corner this morning and this guy had fireworks boxes two wide, two deep and four high (and probably more in the recycling box.)  That would cost a lot of money.
